Cognos Intro
Cognos is a business intelligence application that makes available data in a specially formatted database available for both ad-hoc and official reports.
Purdue has implemented Cognos as the reporting tool for use with it's new academic ERP system, Banner. Over time, other Purdue systems will also be configured to use Cognos.
The College of Science has worked with Purdue's central report writers as well as the OnePurdue Cognos team. The most visible result is Science's report folder structure within Cognos.
If you have access to Cognos (if you don't have access, but need it, email ScienceHelp@purdue.edu), upon logging in, click on the "Cognos Connection" link. You'll be taken to a hierarchical folder structure.
Likely, the only yellow folder you'll see if the 
folder. By clicking on it, you'll see its contents:

- under this folder are categories of reports, written by key report writers from across campus, and most importantly, highly validated. The 'Section Enrollment Report' and 'Weekly Admissions Report' are contained here. Development of reports destined for this folder is fast and furious, you should check it often.

- This folder serves as a widely accessible exchange area for reports that are under development.

Each of the above departmental folders is restricted to only allow edit access by the Cognos authorized people in the respective department. All Cognos-trained Science people can access and edit the 'Shared' folder.
Please contact ScienceHelp@purdue.edu to gain access both to Cognos and/or to make changes to the people authorized for the above folders.
