Secure Mainframe Access
All Mainframe access (eg: Connections to ac.adpc.purdue.edu) will need to be secured by July 31st. This means switching your Windows and Mac users to an SSL/TLS enabled TN3270 and FTP client.
Windows
TN3270
ITaP has provided instructions (MS Word) on how to install and configure Hummingbird's TN3270.
Here is the "Secure ITaP 3270.EXE" file discussed in Step 15 of the directions.
Also, here is the "Secure ITaP Mainframe.hep" file the above program installs if you wish to repackage it.
FTP
You can either use SecureFX or Hummingbird FTP.
For SecureFX, simply create a new session selecting "FTP/SSL (explicit)" for the protocol and set it to use port 621.
Macintosh
TN3270
Brown University's TN3270 X already supports SSL/TLS. Just enable it and use port 2024.
FTP
Fetch 5 already supports SSL/TLS for FTP connections. Just create a new connection, use "Connect using: FTP with SSL/TLS", and set it to use port 621.
